Hummers it seems are always in the news and they say hell has no fury like a woman scorned! But what was Diane Hancox, of Calgary, thinking when she hijacked a hired Hummer limo. The twenty year-old woman faces up to ten charges after the stolen Hummer limousine left a trail of destruction on a Toronto street early one Friday morning.
According to police, the unfortunate limo driver, left the large vehicle idling when he stopped for a bathroom break at Yonge and Wellesley Streets at about 1 a.m. The woman, at first, tried to hitch a ride with the passengers, who were sitting inside the Hummer. However, when they stopped her, she decided to get behind the wheel. The passengers, fearing for their lives, jumped out of the vehicle.
Witnesses, at the scene, said the Hummer limo was then taken on a joyride. During the rampage it struck a pedestrian, a house, a hydro pole and three vehicles before coming to a stop on Inglewood Drive. The victim, fortunately, suffered only minor injuries.
It should be noted that culprit was not only guilty of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and driving without a licence; she was not trained and therefore not competent to drive and control a large vehicle like the Hummer limousine.
